The school is located in Gorizia, close to the town centre. Our
students are boys and girls interested in learning foreign languages or scientific
subjects. Three courses are activated in our school: modern languages, science and
technology, public health.
The first two years are more or less the same: they are meant to complete the general
educational process started in lower secondary school and to prepare pupils to face more
demanding and specialized subjects during the remaining three years, when the different
characterization of each course is evident.
The public health course ( Ambiente e Salute) helps pupils understand the new forms
scientific knowledge has taken on. It allows them to acquire some skills in the scientific
fields of chemistry, mathematics, physics, through the use of the schools
laboratories as well as working experience in professional laboratories in the area.
The science and technology course is widely based on experimental scientific subjects,
mathematics and informatics, which take up 60% of the weekly schedule.
The course in modern languages favours a wide-ranging cultural approach to humanities
through the study of Latin, mathematics, history of art, philosophy, along with the
communicative learning of three foreign languages: English, German, and Spanish.
Our school has a long-lasting tradition of students exchange programmes with schools
from other countries. On such exchange programmes cross-cultural syllabi are developed in
one or more languages, with the co-operation of several teachers, generally not only
language teachers.
Modern didactics and a number of activities make studying here a special experience.
Several services to the students are present in our school, such as the information
service regarding university and post-diploma studies or careers; this service is part of
the regional study and careers advisory service of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Since November
1996 we also have an office open to the public, linked via Internet to the Noopolis Data
Bank on study grants and scholarships.
